The Tigers last night roughed up the Rays with Detroit knocking around Tampa Bay’s ace pitcher for a 10-to-1 victory at Comerica Park. Prince Fielder led the way, going 3-for-4 with a solo homer and four RBI’s as Detroit handed Matt Moore his first loss in nine decisions this season. Moore was rocked for six runs on 7-hits while walking six before departing with no outs in third and trailing 6-to-1. Detroit has won two-of-three since a four game slide. Anibal Sanchez improved to 6-and-5, allowing one run over seven innings while striking out nine.
The Tiger’s win, coupled with Cleveland’s loss to the Yankees, boosted Detroit’s lead in the American League Central to two games over the second place Indians. Doug Fister starts for the Tigers tonight in game two of the three games series with the Rays.
The White Sox suffered their eighth straight loss last night with a 7-to-4 setback at Seattle. And the Cubs lost 4-to-3 to the Angels in Anaheim.
