Kurtz supported bills to streamline adoption process approved by Michigan House

Michigan House of Representatives
Michigan House of Representatives

LANSING, MI (WTVB) - New proposals that supporters like State Representative Ken Kurtz of Coldwater say will streamline the adoption process cleared the Michigan House Tuesday and are on their way to the State Senate. The bills would shorten the time some birth parents have to change their mind about adoption and shorten the supervision period for families adopting infants from 6 to 3 months. Kurtz says it eases some of the burdens and hurdles that adopting parents face and assures participants all the way around that children who need homes find them.

The seven bill package passed by wide margins in the house, with only a few dissenting.
