COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - As the 2012-2013 school year wraps up Friday in the Coldwater School District, planning and adjustments are well underway for next school year.  The district is completing its “grade leveling,” meaning Max Larsen Elementary will house Kindergarten and 1st grade students, Jefferson Elementary will have all 2nd and 3rd grade students, and 4th and 5th graders will continue to attend Lakeland Elementary.

The current Lincoln Elementary is being converted to the Lincoln Language Learning Center, and will also house the district’s preschool and daycare programs.

In order to minimize bus transfers and maximize efficiency for the buses on the road, the start times at most of the schools are also being adjusted.  Legg Middle School and Coldwater High School next year will both start at 7:45 am and end at 2:30 pm.  Currently the high school begins 15 minutes later than the middle school. Classes at Lakeland Elementary will begin at 8:15 am, 8:40 am at Jefferson, and 8:45 am at Max Larsen.
