UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) - High winds brought down several large trees in northwest Branch County where a number of roads were blocked for a time after a strong thunderstorm popped up last night and moved quickly across the area. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued at ten o’clock for northern Branch County to be on the alert for possible 60 mph winds and three-quarter inch hail.
Locations where trees were reported to be across the road included Union City Road near Girard Road, Babcock near M-60, and Girard at Bell Road. 9-1-1 Central Dispatch also received a call about a transformer explosion just south of Union City at 116 Coldwater Road. No structural damage or injuries were reported last night in the county.
