COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The American Board of Wound Healing (ABWH) and the Community Health Center of Branch County (CHC) are pleased to announce that Karen Klein, M.D., has recently obtained certification in advanced wound care. This specialized certification is granted to physicians who have demonstrated an advanced knowledge in the field of wound care and have provided documentation of their excellence and leadership in this field of medicine.
The ABWH serves to maintain and improve the quality of wound management by evaluating professional, clinical, and educational standards of practice. Dr. Klein underwent an examination process designed to assess the medical knowledge, judgment, professionalism, and clinical skills required to provide quality patient care in the fields of wound care and hyperbaric medicine. The ABWH currently offers three areas of certification: Physician Certification in Wound Care, Physician Certification in Hyperbaric Medicine, and Certified Hyperbaric and Wound Specialist (CHWS) Certification. Dr. Klein received Physician Certification in Wound Care.
The intent of the initial certification and the maintenance of certification of wound management specialists in the United States and internationally is to provide assurance to the public that a clinician who has been granted a Certificate of Added Qualification has demonstrated high levels of clinical competence. All certification exams offered by the ABWH are recognized and endorsed by the American College of Hyperbaric Medicine (ACHM) and the American Professional Wound Care Association (APWCA).
