COLDWATER, MI (WTVB - Branch County residents are continuing to sign up in greater numbers to the CodeRed Emergency Notification System following the recent deadly tornadoes in Oklahoma. Branch County 9-1-1 Director Kurt Spaulding told County Commissioners this week that close to one hundred people signed up one day and the daily average is 25-to-50.
CodeRed is an ultra high speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications for tornado, thunderstorm, and flash flood warnings along with other critical notices from evacuations to missing children alerts. Spaulding said the death toll in Oklahoma was greatly reduced thanks to the early warning messages from Code Red.
To sign up for CodeRed, there’s a link on the Branch County Government website at www.co.branch.mi.us or you can call Branch County 9-1-1 Central Dispatch for further information.
