COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Call them green jobs if you will. Whatever your label of choice may be, new jobs would work for sure if Aleris Recycling of Coldwater gets the go ahead from the Coldwater City Council. The Council is set to consider on Monday night a request from Aleris for the city to approve an industrial facilities tax abatement agreement. The Council would first need to set a public hearing on the Aleris tax abatement application. If the request is granted, Aleris would move ahead on a one-and-a-half million dollar investment on its Filmore Road facility.
The company says the project will allow it to be competitive in the industry and create an additional 18 jobs and potentially retain 24 positions over the next two years. The Council is expected to set a public hearing date of July 8th on the abatement application.
