OAKLAND COUNTY, MI (WTVB) - A plane crash in Southeast Michigan has left four family members dead, including the young pilot who reportedly studied at Western Michigan University.  The Cessna One 72 aircraft had the four people on board when it took off around 1:40 pm Fridayday.  Oakland County International Airport officials say the rental plane made it about 100 feet in the air before 19-year old pilot Troy Brothers of Fraser radioed he was having trouble and attempted to make it back to the airport.  Just seconds later the plane went down and burst into flames.

Three victims were pronounced dead at the scene, the fourth victim was airlifted to a local hospital, but was later pronounced dead.  On the plane with Brothers were his mother, his stepfather and his brother in law. The Detroit Free Press reported that a neighbor of Brothers told the paper that in addition to his school work in Kalamazoo, he had recently learned of his acceptance to attend the U.S. Naval Academy and the family had hosted a going away party for him two weeks ago. The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
