COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Gas prices have been slipping this week in Branch County and across most of Michigan as the price of crude oil has taken a tumble. Stations in the Coldwater area today show self-serve regular selling a few cents under $2.50 a gallon.
The slide is reportedly due to a slow-down in the global economy, and the prospect of Iran pumping more oil into the global market if sanctions are lifted. Yesterday in the Kent County town of Wyoming, one station took prices down to $2.09 a gallon in a local price war, but GasBuddy.com’s Patrick Dehaan says that will be short-lived and isolated. He says we may see a spike this weekend as stations may not be able to sustain current prices for long.
