LANSING (WKZO) -- The state Department of Education says the latest ACT and Michigan Merit Examination scores show continued improvement in five subjects over the past several years. MME scores declined slightly compared to last year, but the ACT composite score rose for the fourth straight year to 19.7, with the top score being 36. State superintendent Mike Flannagan says the best improvement for eleventh graders on the MME have come over the last four years in math and writing.
