Coldwater's Breenann Spangler signs National Letter of Intent to play volleyball at Indiana State

ORLANDO, FL (WTVB) - In Branch County sports, Coldwater high school’s Breeann Spangler, who graduated earlier this month, is playing this week with a West Michigan team in the 2013 AAU Girls’ Junior National Championships in Orlando, Florida. Spangler, who was the Class of 2013 Valedictorian at CHS, will be playing Division One college volleyball after signing a letter of intent last fall with Indiana State University.   Her AAU team so far is undefeated at Orlando with a 6-and-0 record in the 18 club division.

Coldwater native Tom Sowles has retired as Olivet high school athletic director and assistant principal. He was a 1971 graduate from Coldwater High School with an outstanding athletic career that landed him in the CHS Hall of Fame. After attending Albion College, he taught and coached in the Coldwater, Marshall, and Athens school systems before settling in at Olivet 19 years ago. This spring, Sowles had his name attached to a street sign, which reads “Sowles Way” and is located in a circle drive at the Olivet High School athletic complex.
