The Detroit Tigers made six errors and allowed five unearned runs as they fell to the Angels 14-to-8 last night in the opener of a three game series at Comerica Park. Miguel Cabrera hit his 21st homer of the year in the loss with 2 RBI’s but also had 2 of the six errors. Rick Porcello dropped to 4-and-5, allowing seven runs and 10 hits in four-and-a-third innings.
Despite the defeat, Central Division leading Detroit stays three and a half games up on the second place Indians, who lost at Baltimore. Rookie Jose Alvarez goes to the mound tonight for the Tigers against the Angels. The White Sox beat the Mets 5-to-4 last night in Chicago while the Cubs lost 9-3 at Milwaukee.
