HOLLAND (WHTC) - Remember four years ago when the Holland-Grand Haven area was considered one of the happiest places to live in the U-S? Seems folks locally aren’t quite as happy or healthy as they used to be, at least according to a Gallup survey. The Well-Being Index by Gallup Healthways ranks Holland-Grand Haven 36th among 189 metro areas nationally, down from No. 2 in the 2009 survey. The area did rank No. 1 nationally for basic access, meaning it scored highly in access to necessities such as clean water, medicine, access to health insurance and a safe place to exercise. Lincoln, Nebraska ranked No. 1 on the survey, while Ann Arbor was the only Michigan community on the list at No. 8.
