UNDATED (WKZO) -- Only one in five Michigan voters support the idea of teachers packing heat when they teach. The Denno Research Poll asked voters who should be allowed to carry guns in schools. 43% said trained security guards. Only 3% said parents should be allowed to carry on school property, and only 20% said teachers. 34% said that no one should be allowed to carry guns in schools.
The poll showed democrats tended to be more restrictive and republicans tended to be less restrictive but neither thinks anyone other than trained security guards should be permitted to carry guns at school. Legislation allowing teachers to carry guns has been introduced but remains in committee.
The poll also asked if voters were ready to support same sex Marriage. The voters split 47 to 46% with the rest undecided.
