COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A longtime family owned Branch County business went up in flames early today. Longstreet Furniture, located on the Northside of U-S-12 halfway between Coldwater and Quincy, was gutted by the seven alarm fire. No injuries were reported. A passing motorist first noticed smoke coming from the building and called 9-1-1 around 12:30 this morning. Quincy firemen were first on the scene and discovered heavy smoke showing and the blaze quickly spread through the structure.

It took about an hour and a half before the fire was declared under control. Assisting Quincy firemen were fire departments from Coldwater, Bronson, Lakeland, Allen, Jonesville, and Fremont, Indiana. There’s no information yet on a possible cause for the fire and the State Fire Marshall’s office has been notified to assist in the investigation.
