QUINCY, MI (WTVB) - Quincy Fire Chief Kurt Barve says a State Fire Marshall Office investigator has inspected the site of the blaze early Tuesday that heavily damaged Longstreet Furniture. However, after examining the property yesterday, they still haven’t figured out what started the seven alarm fire and for now, the cause is listed as undetermined but still under investigation.
No injuries were reported. Smoke and flames were showing when Quincy firemen reached the scene shortly after being toned out by 9-1-1 central dispatch around 12:30 a.m. yesterday. Barve gave credit to the more than 5 dozen firefighters who were able to maintain their hold on the spread of the inferno, preventing a total loss to the complex of connecting structures that make up the business on the Northside of U.S. 12 halfway between Coldwater and Quincy. According to Barve, they used about 195,000 gallons of water in dousing the fire that took nearly five hours to put out.
