LANSING, MI (WTVB) - A proposal called the "Michigan 2020" plan seeks to allow Michigan high school graduates accepted to colleges in the state to attend free of charge. Democratic State Senator Gretchen Whitmer cites the Kalamazoo Promise as a prime example as to why the plan should be made reality.
Republican State Representative Amanda Price says the idea makes her a little uncomfortable at first glance.
The plan calls for closing tax loopholes to pay for the initiative. Backers of the idea have a website online at Michigan2020.com.
