WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) - Another sign today of a recovering economy with the lowest jobless figure in the U.S. in more than 4 years. The Labor Department says there were 236,000 new jobs in February and the national unemployment rate is now seven-point-seven-percent, down two-tenths of a percent. That’s the best since the end of 2008.
Most of the jobs were added in professional and business services, construction and healthcare. The number of unemployed people is estimated to be around 12 million. Nearly five million people have been unemployed for more than six months.
