COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A new lunch program for Branch County seniors was announced Friday in Coldwater. It’s a collaborative effort for the Branch County Commission on Aging and Community Action. Starting in early April, CA will move its congregate meal site and relocate a half mile south to the BCCOA Burnside Senior Center off Michigan Avenue in Coldwater. For many years, the two agencies have offered similar services to Branch County seniors. Amy Duff, Commission on Aging Executive Director, said the agencies believe it is really time that they bring together the things they both excel at so that together they can serve Branch County seniors 60 and over even better than they have in the past making it easy to access an affordable hot meal at lunch time.
Duff said there’s another new feature that will be included in the program. Reservations 24-hours in advance are strongly requested. Seniors can reserve their meals on the touch screens at the Burnside Center when they sign in for other activities. They can also call in a reservation from home. The suggested donation for the new program is $2.75. Duff said while they wait for paperwork to be finalized on the meal site relocation, CA will be providing meals at the Burnside Center under a catering agreement starting this Monday.
For the next few weeks under the catering contract, the donation rate is $3.75. Making the announcement Friday jointly with Duff was Amanda Schmidt, director of food and nutritional services for Community Action.
