Michigan Secretary of State plans election transparency moves

LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson wants to improve transparency in statewide and local elections.  She is starting to work with lawmakers on several new proposals, one of which would require any campaign contribution over one-thousand dollars to be reported within 48 hours, and another would require campaign finance reporting during non-election years.

Johnson says it's vital for voters to be able to see where the money is going, how it's spent, and who donated it.  She also wants reporting requirements to be extended to local office races.
