UNDATED (WTVB) - In Branch County high school sports, the change in seasons is officially underway for county schools although Monday’s first day allowed by the MHSAA for practice and tryouts for the spring events was mostly about meetings, schedules and light indoor workouts yesterday because of the rainy weather. The winter season activities are still happening in Michigan in state tournament girls and boys basketball.
Last night, it was the boys regional semi-finals including a near upset in Class B at Marshall where undefeated Stevensville-Lakeshore got by Sturgis 37-to-36. In the other semi-final, South Haven eliminated Harper Creek 64-to-48. And at the Constantine Class C Regional, Schoolcraft, which won last week’s district at Quincy, advanced by beating Bloomingdale 42-to-36 while White Pigeon defeated Bridgman 41-to-33. In girls hoops, the final week of the season tips off tonight with the quarterfinals with the winners moving on to the Final Four which begins Thursday at the Breslin Center. Sweet Sixteen matchups this evening include Marshall vs. Grand Rapids South Christian in Class B at Wayland Union while in Class D, it’s Athens against Plymouth Christian at Battle Creek Central.
Today on the Coaches Corner, it’s our final look at Quincy boy’s basketball with coach Scott Rodesiler.
