Lions re-sign Spievey, Osgood, and Young, look to land running back Reggie Bush

A lot of wheeling and dealing for Detroit and the rest of the league on Tuesday and the opening day for free agent signings. Safety Amari Spievey and wide receiver Kassim Osgood agreed to one-year contracts and will be staying with the Lions. Spievey has started 26 games over three seasons since being taken by Detroit in the third round of the 2010 draft. However, he was limited to just five games this past season due to a pair of concussions that landed him on injured reserve in November. Osgood is regarded as one of the league's top special-teams players. The Lions will be keeping fourth year defensive end Willie Young for another season with a 2-million dollar tender offer. And Detroit is losing offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus to Indianapolis. The 28-year-old played his first five seasons with the Lions after being drafted in the first round out of Boston College in 2008.

Visiting Detroit today will be free agents running back Reggie Bush and safety Glover Quin.

Lions kicker Jason Hanson would like to return for a 22nd season. Hanson, who was taken by Detroit in the second round of the 1992 NFL Draft, isn't currently under contract. Hanson just completed a four-year deal and went 32-of-36 on field goals in 2012. Hanson holds the NFL record for career games and seasons with one team.
