LANSING, MI (WTVB) - In high school sports, the Sweet 16 is set in boys basketball March Magic after last night’s regional title games while the MHSAA girls tournament Final Four tips off today at the Breslin Center with Athens and Climax-Scotts the two Branch County area teams with their dreams still alive for a state championship. Last night in boy’s action at the Constantine Class-C Regional, the title trophy went to the Schoolcraft. The Eagles, who won last week’s district at Quincy, advanced to next week’s quarterfinals by beating White Pigeon 73-to-44. In Class-B, at the Marshall Regional, Stevensville-Lakeshore stayed undefeated with a 60-to-46 win over South Haven. Also in Class-B, Jackson Lumen Christi was a winner on its home court with a 57-52 victory over Lansing Sexton. And at the Harper Creek Class-D Regional, the championship went to Climax-Scotts with their 62-to-45 win over Adrian Lenawee Christian.
In the girl’s Final Four, the opening games this afternoon feature the Class-C semi-finals. Then tonight in Class-D, the first contest at six o’clock is between Climax-Scotts and top-ranked undefeated St. Ignace LaSalle followed by a rematch of last year’s title game between Athens and 3-time defending state champion Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes.
Tomorrow, it’s the Class-A and Class-B semifinals with the four titles games then set for Saturday.
