Tigers cruised past the Mets yesterday 9-to-1 in Grapefruit League action at Port St. Lucie. Miguel Cabrera went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Alex Avila drove in a pair for Detroit, which got four solid innings from starter Doug Fister.
He struck out four and allowed just one run on three hits. And Tiger’s closer prospect Bruce Rondon had his best outing so far with the hard throwing rookie right-hander retiring the side in order for the first time this spring when he finished up the game in the ninth. Detroit will host the Blue Jays this afternoon in Lakeland
