COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The Branch County Area Chamber of Commerce has been recognizing the best and brightest in the community for 60 years, and the quintet of honorees at last night's Community Awards Dinner at the Dearth Center continued the long tradition.

Shirley Bailey, who worked as a nurse at the Community Health Center of Branch County for 42 years and who has given over 36,000 hours of community service in her 70 years of residency in Coldwater, was named Citizen of the Year.

Taylor's Stationers, a pillar of the downtown Coldwater business community for 40 years, was recognized as Business of the Year.

The Outstanding Community Program of the Year was the Tibbits Opera House Restoration Project; accepting the award were our own Ken Delaney and Mary Smith, who serve as committee co-chairs.

Susan Sobeske, who manages the Business Management, Marketing, and Technology program at the Branch Area Careers Center, was named Educator of the Year.

The first-ever Young Professional of the Year honor was given to "Marketing Maven" Courtney Dirschell.
