UNDATED (WKZO) -- Gas prices have spiked again in Michigan for no apparent reason stations are charging nearly $4 a gallon.
Gas Buddy.com’s Patrick Dehaan says it only happens in Michigan, and a few other Great Lakes States and he is blaming it on what they call the “Speedway effect,” what the FTC calls Price cycling.
He says they can control prices, forcing other stations to raise theirs and then beating them up on the way down. Dehaan says if you can read the pattern, you can beat them at their own game and he can.
He says they then issue warnings by twitter, e-mail and thru the media.
Dehaan doubts prices will go above $4 this spring or summer. He says we may come close but he doesn’t think we will go over.
