ESPN is reporting that in-state rivals Michigan and Michigan State will, as expected, remain in the same division when the Big Ten expands in 2014 with the addition of Maryland and Rutgers. The network cites anonymous sources for indicating that the Big Ten will split the divisions based on time zones. The East division will be made up of the Wolverines and Spartans along with Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland and Rutgers with the West featuring Wisconsin, Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa, Nebraska and Illinois. ESPN says there’s no final decision yet on which division gets Purdue and which gets Indiana.
