Michigan State and Michigan, in the Sweet 16 together for the first time ever, are now paired up with their next opponents in the NCAA Men’s tournament after the third round of March Madness wrapped up yesterday with 8 games. Both the Spartans and Wolverines will play on Friday night. Third seed Michigan State will face second seed Duke in the Midwest Region semifinals at Indianapolis (9:45 pm) while fourth seed Michigan with take on top-seed Kansas in the South region semi-finals at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington (7:37 pm). The Wolverines and Spartans each cruised to victory Saturday at the Palace in their Round of 32 games. Duke and Kansas posted double digit wins last night.
Sunday’s highlights included East Region top seed Indiana pulling out a late victory over Temple 58-52 while West Region number-2 seed Ohio State barely got by Iowa State 78-75. And for the first time ever, a number-15 seed is headed to the Sweet 16 as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagle last night eliminated number-7 seed San Diego State 81-to-71. The Eagles knocked off the South Region’s number two seed, Georgetown, on Friday.
