BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Christians will solemnly mark Good Friday, the traditional date when Jesus Christ was crucified outside Jerusalem. In Branch County, the tradiitonal Good Friday Way of the Cross procession is happening in Bronson at 3:00 p.m.
The dramatic reenactment of the passion of Christ with the walk down US-12 begins at the Congregational Church and makes its way to the St. Mary’s of Assumption Catholic Church for a brief unity service.
Other Good Friday services will be held at the United Methodist Church and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Coldwater at 12:30 p.m., and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 1:00 p.m. A community unity service sponsored by the Coldwater Area Ministerial Association will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Coldwater Church of the Nazarene.
In observance of Good Friday, the Branch County Courthouse is closed Friday, while offices for the City of Coldwater and the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities close at 12 noon.
Most schools across Branch County will be closed Friday. At Pansophia Academy, Friday is a required snow make-up day. It is an Early Release Friday, so students are released at 1:41 p.m.
United States financial markets are also closed Friday.
