AFGHANISTAN (WKZO) -- National Airline officials now say that 6 of the 7 crewmen on board a 747-cargo plane that crashed near Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan were from Michigan, including both pilots, Brad Hasler of Trenton and Jamie Brokaw of Three Rivers.
Hasler’s brother, Bill says he was married just two weeks ago. He leaves behind a wife, two daughters and a third child on the way.
Airline Vice President Shirley Coffman says this is something you can never prepare for. The National Transportation Safety board is sending an investigation team to Afghanistan to find the cause.
A video of the crash, captured on a dash-cam shows the plane stalling on take-off, losing lift, falling straight down to the ground and disintegrating in a huge fireball on impact.
Also killed in the crash, Jeremy Lipka of Brooklyn, MI, Rinku Summan of Canton; Michael Sheets of Ypsilanti, and Gary Stockdale of Romulus.
Timothy Garrett of Louisville, Ky., was also killed.
