COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Last week we told you about a Coldwater family that had joined the Occupy movement by occupying their foreclosed home. Matthew Murray felt he had been denied a fair shot by the bank and the courts to retain their home, despite a general effort by many banks to try and keep homeowners in their homes.
Bank of America Spokesperson Kelly Sapp says a predecessor bank completed the foreclosure sale in early 2009 and the case has been in litigation ever since. The Family has lost all of its appeals.
The family had requested to stay in the house while it was appealed, which was allowed as long as they continued to make monthly payments to an escrow account.
Once they lost their final appeal, that money was awarded to the bank.
Sapp says Bank of America has helped 37-thousand customers avoid foreclosure since 2009. Apparently not all of them got that help.
