LANSING, MI (WTVB) - Michigan's State Treasurer is urging residents to call on their representatives in Congress to support a bill that could help ensure the future success of higher education. Treasurer Andy Dillon wants to see the Savings Enhancement for Education in College Act passed. Dillon says the bill would ensure that what are called 529 college savings plans would stay effective and versatile by extending credits and allowing employers to match up to $600 of an employee's contribution.
Dillon said in a statement that the plans are designed to encourage families to save money for future college expenses of their children or grandchildren. Anyone wanting all the specifics can find information online at www.CollegeSavings.org/LegislativeInitiative
