$155,000 awarded Wednesday at Coldwater High Senior Scholarship Night

COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - It was the annual Local Senior Scholarship Night Wednesday at Coldwater High School and a very proud evening for more than five dozen graduating seniors, their parents and family members.  The generous Coldwater community, its clubs and organizations, Century Bank and Trust, Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, the Branch County Community Foundation make it happen and representatives from the Branch Area Careers Center and Coldwater Community Schools, past and present, were all on hand to award 61 recipients over $155,000 in scholarship monies to be invested in the students and their dreams of pursuing higher education.

In addition, three highlights of the evening were awards to Mariah Littley for her acceptance of the Youth For Understanding's most prestigious scholarship, the Congress-Bundestag full ride scholarship to study abroad in Germany for the 2013-2014 school year, BreeAnn Spangler's acceptance of a full ride athletic scholarship to Indiana State University as well as an additional University Honors Scholarship valued at $20,000 over four years, and Austin Gagnon's awarding of the IPFW Chapman Scholarship valued upwards of $120,000.

Coldwater High School Principal Bill Milnes said he would like to thank the entire community for their continued, generous support of CHS students.
