Legislation introduced to award Vietnam veterans diplomas

LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan Senator Judy Emmons has introduced legislation to allow Vietnam War veterans to be awarded high school diplomas.

Currently, Michigan allows school boards to award high school diplomas to veterans of World War Two and the Korean conflict.  Under the bill, qualified veterans must have served honorably during the Vietnam era, must have been in the armed forces before high school graduation and must be at least 65-years-old.

Emmons says while a high school diploma may seem like a small thing, it is an important acknowledgement to veterans and their families of everything they gave up to serve.
