COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - Branch County Sheriff John Pollack says the County’s Marine Patrol, the 2013 version, is ready to serve and do their best to help provide safe boating on area lakes as the Memorial Day Weekend has arrived. According to Pollack, the Patrol has been busy putting out buoys on all of the main lakes in the county and the boat livery inspections are finished.
Triple A says they aren’t expecting any big boost in travel this holiday weekend, but Dave Lorenz at Travel Michigan says if they use the data from it correctly, they can turn it into another record breaker by the time everyone is putting away the lawn chairs this fall. Lorenz says their goal is to build off last year’s growth. They brought in about 18-billion dollars in economic activity and they are predicting 3 to 4% growth this year...regardless of the weather. Their immediate goal this weekend is to track, thru the Pure Michigan website and by using other metrics, who comes in to the state this weekend. That will give them a better idea how to place their Pure Michigan ads regionally for optimum impact the rest of the summer.
