The Tigers last night lost a 1-to-0, 11-inning pitcher’s duel to the Pirates at Comerica Park as they split the two-game set in Detroit. The matchup now shifts to Pittsburgh with the Tigers scheduled to play the Pirates tonight and tomorrow night at PNC Park. Jose Ortega took the loss last night for Detroit, giving up Neil Walker's solo homer in the top of the 11th inning. Rick Porcello struck out a career-high 11 for the Tigers while allowing just three hits over eight innings.

Former Tiger Jason Grilli struck out the side in the bottom of the 11th for his 21st save in 21 tries, fanning Torii Hunter, Miguel Cabrera, and Prince Fielder to end the game, which started 73-minutes late because of rain. Detroit keeps its 2-and-a-half game lead atop the American League Central over Cleveland as the Indians dropped their fifth straight in an 8-to-2 loss at Cincinnati.

Last night’s Cubs-White Sox game in Chicago was rained out.
