The Red Wing’s season came to an end last night in Chicago where the Blackhawks beat Detroit 2-to-1 in overtime in Game Seven of the Western Conference semi-finals. The Red Wings are the 25th team in NHL history to lose a series after enjoying a three-games-to-one lead. Brent Seabrook scored the game winner for Chicago 3:35 into overtime. Henrik Zetterberg had the lone goal for Detroit 26 seconds into the third period. Jimmy Howard stopped 33 shots in defeat.
For just the second time in the history of the league, the final four teams remaining in the playoffs are the four most recent Stanley Cup winners. The Blackhawks move on to play the defending champion Los Angeles Kings in the West finals.
