AUGUSTA, MI (WTVB) - Micheal Lashawn Anderson, originally from Albion, was a troubled Afghanistan war veteran who went on a shooting rampage a year ago in Indianapolis, shooting 4-people and killing 45-year-old Alicia Koehl before turning the gun on himself. Because he was a veteran, he was buried with full military honors at Fort Custer National Cemetery, but the family of the woman he killed wants his body exhumed and buried elsewhere.
Frank Koehl says the law says specifically say that Anderson is not eligible for burial next to real heroes because he is guilty of a capital offense. His daughter in law, a mother of two, was shot 13 times by Anderson, and no one is sure why to this day.
The Veterans Administration is said to be reviewing the situation but has not released any comment.
