ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) - A Coldwater man targeted for the last month by federal and local authorities in Northeast Indiana has been taken into custody for the alleged sale of the illegal K2/Spice drug. The case against 33-year old Richard Newsome remains under investigation by the US Drug Enforcement Administration.
Steuben County Sheriff Tim Troyer says Community Corrections surveillance officers checking on an offender believed they observed illegal substances in the Addikted 2 Ink store on north Wayne Street in Angola and then alerted narcotics deputies. Undercover agents from the D.E.A. and I.M.A.G.E. drug task force later made purchases of the illegal K2/Spice inside the business and notified Angola City Police to assist with obtaining search and arrest warrants. They were served last Thursday and narcotics items and paraphernalia were recovered from the store.
Charges filed against Newsome are 2 class D felony counts of dealing in a look-alike synthetic cannabinoid. Newsome is currently being held without bond in the Steuben County Jail.
