ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) - There were a few snow bursts over the weekend in the Branch County area but very little accumulation and no reports of any serious traffic accidents in the county. However, southbound I-69 near Angola was shut down for about 3 hours last night following a car semi collision after which the car driver was flown out to a Ft. Wayne hospital in critical condition. The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department said the semi was merging into the driving lane when the vehicle driven by 28-year old Christy Keaton of Angola rear-ended the trailer and was lodged up underneath and trapped for nearly an hour.
The start of the winter weather driving season brings the reminder again from law enforcement agencies: SLOW DOWN: Most crashes are caused by people driving too fast for conditions. They also say PAY ATTETNION: Keep both hands on the wheel, focus on driving and do not allow yourself to be distracted.
