LANSING (WKZO) -- Michigan Governor Rick Snyder testified that he doesn’t know who donates to the NERD fund. The governor faced questioning about Detroit’s bankruptcy eligibility on Wednesday from attorneys with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
According to a transcript of his testimony, Snyder told the court there’s an independent board that handles the fund. The NERD fund is controversial because it can accept unlimited corporate donations from donors who don’t have to be publicly disclosed.
The fund reportedly raised roughly 1.7-million dollars in 2011 and 2012 and is being used to pay for some of Detroit emergency manager Kevyn Orr’s expenses.
