BOSTON, MA (WTVB) – The Detroit Red Wings are in Boston to skate against the Bruins tonight. Detroit has picked up at least one point in its last five games, including a 1-0 overtime loss to the New York Rangers on Sunday.
The Red Wings host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Joe Louis Arena tomorrow night in their last action before the All-Star break.
The Red Wings have placed center Dylan Larkin on seven-day injured reserve and forward Thomas Vanek is day-to-day after both players were injured during Sunday’s overtime loss to the Rangers. Larkin suffered an upper-body injury at the end of the game, while Vanek sustained a lower-body injury in the first period and did not return.
Forward Tomas Jurco will return to the lineup tonight at Boston after being a healthy scratch for the last eight games. Detroit also assigned forward Drew Miller to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins yesterday. Miller was placed on and cleared waivers to make room for defenseman Niklas Kronwall, who returned to the team Sunday after missing eight games with a groin injury.
The Blackhawks battle the Lightning at the United Center tonight. Chicago ran its winning streak to three games with a 4-2 victory over the Canucks on Sunday. The ‘Hawks are tied with Minnesota for the top spot in the West with 65 points. Tampa Bay is last in the Atlantic.
