PANAMA CITY, PANAMA (WTVB) - The U.S. men's soccer team gave World Cup hope to its biggest rival on Tuesday. Team USA scored a pair of goals in stoppage time to notch a 3-2 win over Panama at Panama City, helping Mexico stay alive in CONCACAF qualifying. The Mexicans suffered a 2-1 defeat at Costa Rica, but will advance as the fourth team in the group to play New Zealand for a spot in next year's World Cup in Brazil. That home-and-home series will take place next month.
The U.S. had already clinched its spot in the World Cup and is the top team in its group standings.
