COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - It’s a big state tournament weekend coming up with boy’s tennis and girl’s golf state finals beginning today for Coldwater and then tomorrow, boys soccer district titles will be on the line for Coldwater and Quincy. And there’s also Friday Night football with the second to last regular season games on tonight’s Week 8 schedule.

In Division 3 boys tennis, Coldwater will be competing in the state finals for the first time since 1996 when they take to the courts today at Kalamazoo College’s Stowe Stadium. The Cardinals qualified for the finals with last week’s third place finish at the Sturgis regional where St. Joseph was first and Sturgis second. In this week’s final Division 3 coaches poll, Coldwater was tenth, Sturgis 8th, and St. Joseph 2nd with Detroit Country Day ranked first.

In girls golf, in Division Three, the ninth-ranked Coldwater Lady Cardinals will tee it up in the finals at the Meadows Golf Course at Grand Valley State University in Allendale. Coldwater took third place at last Thursday’s regional at Lake Doster.

Tomorrow in boys soccer, in Division Two, Coldwater will take on Battle Creek Central with an 11 a.m. match for the championship of the Gull Lake District. Coldwater, which was honorable mention in this week’s final Division Two coaches poll, is playing in the district finals for the second year in-a-row. And in Division 4, at the Quincy District, the host Quincy Orioles play at 10 am tomorrow for the title against Hillsdale Academy.

In football, Coldwater plays its final home game of the year tonight with the Cardinals taking on the Gull Lake Blue Devils. It’s a 7 o’clock kickoff and we’ll have all the action on the radio with our live coverage on AM 1590 and FM 95.5 beginning with the pre-game show at 6:30. Elsewhere, it’s Quincy at Homer, Bronson at Stockbridge, and Union City hosts Reading. And in 8-man football, Tekonsha is at home against Michigan Lutheran.
