Snyder seeking common ground on Michigan no-fault auto-insurance reforms

Michigan Governor Rick Snyder talks about the future of the city of Detroit during a news conference in Detroit, Michigan February 21, 2013.
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder talks about the future of the city of Detroit during a news conference in Detroit, Michigan February 21, 2013.

LANSING (WKZO) -- Governor Snyder is looking for common ground on a very controversial issue at the Capitol.  He told reporters the current no-fault auto insurance system needs to be reformed, which has been attempted several times over the past decade with no success.

Snyder wants to cap the currently unlimited injury protection coverage at one-million dollars and limit what insurers can be charged by the medical community for auto crash injuries.  Democrats are balking at the idea, with the contention that the quality of care for victims will be compromised and the governor's proposal doesn't guarantee enough savings.
