COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - The high school cross country regionals were on Saturday with all of the county teams running at Ella Sharp Park in Jackson. In Division Two, Coldwater’s season came to an end with neither the boys nor girls team or any Cardinal runners able to qualify for the finals coming up this Saturday at MIS. The boys team placed ninth with Josh Evers leading the way finishing 31st. The Lady Cardinals finished 13th in the 15-team field with Natalee Dally in 44th place.
In Division Three, the Quincy girls placed third to qualify the team for the finals while the boys team missed out by placing fourth but Zach Slack, Riley Horn and Logan Kestner placed in the top 15 which qualified them to run in the finals as individuals. Haley Bean led the girls with her fourth place finish. Neither of the boys or girls teams from Bronson or Union City nor any of their runners as individuals were able to advance to the finals. For Bronson, the boys took tenth place, the girls were eighth while for Union City, the boys placed 12th with the girls team in seventh place.
in volleyball on Saturday, Coldwater hosted the Lady Cardinal Invitational, including Bronson. Coldwater lost 2-1 to Galesburg Augusta in the Gold Division quarterfinals. The Lady Cardinals went 3-and-0 in pool play with wins over Bellevue, Athens, and Brooklyn Columbia Central. Shelby Bowers had a team high 21 kills. Meghan Schorfhaar had 47 assists and 11 aces while Michaela Gillette had 22 digs. Coldwater’s record on the season is 21-14-8. Three Rivers defeated Galesburg in the finals. Bronson had a 2-1-and-1 record on the day with wins over Battle Creek Central and Tecumseh and a split with Concord before losing 2-1 to Three Rivers. Skyler Sobeski had 27 kills. Alexa Ratkowski had 80 assists and 6 aces. Haley Russell had 7 blocks and Kassidy Bystry had 46 digs. Bronson, ranked sixth in the state in Class-C, has a season record of 37-15-and-7.
