COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) - A Pennsylvania firm that announced a year ago that it had chosen Coldwater to expand its synthetic materials business in Michigan over possible sites in Ohio and Indiana and bring as many as 60 new job to the community now says it won’t be locating a plant in Branch County. A representative for Monadnock Non-Wovens, LLC said, unfortunately, for purely commercial reasons their project was abandoned at the very latest stage and they chose not to make any expansion to a second location. Keith Hayward, the managing director for Monadnock, said he couldn’t speak too highly of the pro-business atmosphere that surrounds the city from City Hall to the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance to the utilities and Fire Marshall and the people of Coldwater.
City Manager Jeff Budd said the company was going to purchase a previously vacant building and the city is extremely disappointed with the news. Economic Growth Alliance Director Lisa Miller expressed thanks to everyone involved in the collaborative effort and that it’s their hope that they’ll be able to recruit another company soon.
