Judge: Open meetings act not violated in Detroit Emergency Manager appointment

LANSING (WKZO) -- An Ingham County judge has ruled the Open Meeting Act was not violated in the appointment of Detroit Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr.

Activist Robert Davis filed a lawsuit against Governor Rick Snyder, state Treasurer Andy Dillon and the Local Emergency Financial Assistance Loan Board, claiming they conducted private interviews and cut down the list of candidates for emergency manager, before Orr was hired in March.   Judge William Collette ruled Davis did not present evidence that the board voted or made other decisions in private.  Collette, however, did find two violations of the Open Meetings Act concerning the required postings and mailings of meeting notices.

Officials with the Snyder administration say they're consulting with counsel on how to address the violations.
