WASHINGTON D.C. (WTVB) - If there was a vote today in the U.S. House on President Obama’s request for approval to attack Syria, Branch County’s representative in Congress would say no to American forces taking military action there. Seventh District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg said he believes the House right now would defeat the President’s plans by a wide margin. Walberg said the administration is not clear on what it has in mind to retaliate for Syria’s alleged use of chemical weapons against its own people. He said the President also has been not been able to identify what groups in Syria are our friends or enemies with Walberg believing the U.S may not have supporters of any kind in the country.
Back home in the district, the Congressman said almost 100% of the people who have communicated with his office have indicated there have been no reasons shown why they should support President Obama in moving forward with a show of military force against Syria.
