GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) - August may have been a great month for auto sales, but it was a slow month for manufacturing in West Michigan. Industrial economist Dr. Brian Long of Grand Valley State University says his monthly survey shows local production took a big dip last month, but he isn’t too concerned about it. He says it appears most just took a break in August for vacations. LOng says all things considered, all the other indicators are positive, and says the executives he surveys say it will be back to business as normal when the numbers for this month are calculated.
